Defying Gravity

In an answer to my long time prayers, Wicked has finally come to Richmond. And I finally have tickets to go next week (oh, there will be a long review afterwards, so look forward to that!)

I can't even explain how excited I am! I have wanted to see this show since it's Broadway premiere, but have never had a chance. Considering I own the soundtrack and am in love with the music, it's about time I see the show. 

Of course nothing can compare to seeing Idina Menzel and Kristen Chenoweth in the original cast, but I've been hearing nothing but great things about this touring company.

So, because I can't stop listening to it, here are some of my favorite lyrics from the infamous song "Defying Gravity":

A St. Patty's Festival With No Green Beer??

Richmond held it's annual Shamrock the Block festival this past Saturday, and left much to be desired. With the exception of thousands of people wearing green, there was nothing to distinguish this as a St. Patty's day event.

So... what was missing most, you might ask? No green beer. No Irish beer, for that matter... no Guinness, no Bass, no Smithwick's...

No... all that was available to the huddled masses were Budweiser brands... and oh yeah, nothing says "Luck of the Irish" like a tiny $5 Budweiser...

Richmond... you have something to learn from your sister cities. At least they know how to party properly! Oh well... at least my money went to charity.

So I guess I'll have to wait for Wednesday's actual celebration to have my official green beer.

Do I like food coloring in my beer? No... it's pretty nasty, if you think about it. But it's celebratory and necessary. A right of passage if you will.

So, raise your glass (and hopefully there is something better than Bud in it) and say with me "Slainte!"

Goodbye, Lucas (aka Corey Haim)... you will be missed

Hollywood lost yet another bright star this week, and although many people were quick to say they saw it coming, it doesn't make it any less sad. Yes, Corey Haim did have some problems. Yes, he had fallen far from the stardom of his youth. But I will always remember him with fond memories, and I hope his tormented soul is finally resting peacefully.
